A 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is the subject, a car many view as the ultimate muscle car. Under the hood sits a 454 V8 from 1970 that is not numbers-matching, coupled to a Muncie 4-speed manual. That engine was rebuilt roughly 10,000 miles ago with forged pistons, Eagle rods, Total Rollerz, and a 0.030-inch overbore. The body still carries its factory Forest Green paint. Performance items include a Holly 850 Duel pumper carb, a chrome Edelbrock highrise intake, Hooker headers, 3-inch exhaust with electric cutouts, MSD Ignition, front disc brakes, and 3.55 rear gears. It rides on 5-spoke Crager wheels with new BFGoodrich tires.

The Chevelle nameplate arrived in 1964 as a mid-size offering; its second generation became the most popular largely due to the sculpted “coke bottle” body with tapered fenders and rear quarter kick-up. For 1970, Chevrolet gave it a squared front end and revised option list, with the 454ci V8 in SS trim being the top engine. Quad headlights remain a cherished trait and are often linked to higher values.
